Anti-Discrimination Law Reform in the ACT

Anti-discrimination laws in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) have been significantly reformed to enhance protections and promote equality. The Discrimination Amendment Bill 2022 passed by the ACT Legislative Assembly on March 23, 2023, and introduces critical changes aimed at modernising the Discrimination Act 1991. These reforms aim to align ACT’s legislative framework with contemporary standards of equal opportunity and social inclusion. The legislative changes were adopted into the Discrimination Act 1991 and were enacted into legislation on 12 April 2024.
