In late-2023 the Tasmanian Government updated the existing Mental Health Act 2013 by passing the Mental Health Amendment Bill 2022 through the Legislative Council. This followed a review of the Mental Health Act 2013, which provides a rights-based framework for the compulsory assessment and treatment of individuals with severe mental illness.
