Get More NDIS Participants: Effective Marketing Tips for Providers

A man with Downs Syndrome smiles as he paints on bright colourful canvas in a class. This picture is used to illustrate the topic of reaching more NDIS participants as a Provider.

As a NDIS Provider, increasing your NDIS participants is key to your businesses growth. While there are plenty of NDIS participants looking for providers, the market can seem oversaturated – making it difficult for participants to find your businesses’ details and service offerings.

So how can you make your business stand out from the crowd?

Understanding your Participants

WHO are your participants?

Like any business, you need to understand your customers. Have you developed a marketing strategy that is clear with regards to the particular NDIS participants you are aiming to target your supports to? For example, a Behaviour Support Practitioner with experience working with children may target their marketing strategy to the parents of children with autism, while a cleaning company might consider their target participants to be anyone who receives core supports within their NDIS plan.

Be specific! Narrow down your target participants by specifying age, geographical region, diagnosis as well as any interests or specialities your staff have. Focus on what you do best, so you can stand out from the crowd!

WHAT support do participants require?

Speak with potential NDIS participants about their NDIS plan and goals to help narrow down the type of supports they are looking for, as well as the amount of funding their plan has allocated for these supports. A participant’s NDIS goals are a good indication of what the participant may want to attempt to achieve over the duration of their NDIS plan and where your business may be a good fit.

WHY should participants choose you as their NDIS provider?

There are so many NDIS providers for participants to choose from so you need to offer something unique. Think about your attributes as a service provider – what would attract you to your business if you were a NDIS participant? Would there be any deal breakers to make you turn to alternative providers?

Show your potential NDIS participants why they should choose you over other providers through clear and concise messaging, affordability and value for money, high quality services, experienced staff, consistency and industry experience.

Key Marketing Tips for NDIS Participant Growth

Use Google Ads

Running a Google Ads campaign can be a relatively simple and effective strategy for growing your participant numbers. Google Ads campaigns can often produce higher quality leads and you are able to access Google analytics to determine your budget, geographical location and more.

Create an Accessible Website

NDIS participants navigating your website will have a range of different accessibility requirements. For example, have you thought about creating detailed image descriptions on your website for people with low vision? The Australian Government has created an accessible and inclusive content style manual to help you create an accessible website. Look at how you can incorporate these features into your website to make it easier for participants to know more about your services.

Utilise Social Media

Maintain consistency with your social media accounts by posting regularly. Social media is a highly effective tool for marketing your NDIS business as it has such a wide reach while allowing you to showcase your business, staff and service offerings. Engage with your followers by sharing your knowledge and expertise through your content. It can be helpful to make your posts or articles engaging, encouraging conversation amongst your followers.

Networking and Attending Events

Networking can be an easy way to make new connections and gain referrals. Reach out to other providers, Support Coordinators, Plan Managers and Allied Health Supports to introduce your business, showcase your service offerings and even attend a face to face visit to build rapport and create a mutual referral pathway.

Attending networking events in your area also allows you to make connections within the industry. It is an opportunity to learn from a different range of providers, including larger providers, providers with both similar and different service offerings and direct competitors so you can have a better idea of where your services fit within the local area and how you can complement each other.
